Cleansing Ourselves

Every day many of us cleanse ourselves by taking a bath. It's a daily activity that has become so routine that we don't think twice about it. There are those that spend less than five minutes, others may take the opportunity to make this their special time. Basically, we bathe because of personal hygiene. To rid ourselves of the dirt that may accumulate on us during the day. Just think how we would feel if we didn't bath. Overtime this would become very uncomfortable. If bathing is so important to us, why aren't we cleansing our minds and spirit as well. We come across toxic people every day that leave their imprint on us even after they've gone. There is debris from the past that still cling to us that affect how we interact with others. Cleansing our minds and spirit is as important as our daily bathing so that we can live our lives refreshed every day. Today, take a moment to visualize how you can begin cleansing not only your body, but your mind and spirit. Do what feels right for you.

Sometimes we need to make due when places like these aren't available...

Different Perspectives

In life, we often times hear the saying "Treat others as you would wish to be treated". This seems easy enough to understand, but what if you grew up not being treated well and the only signs of love was through abuse. Then this saying as well as the others which we set our standards of behavior become distorted. As we go through life, we take it for granted that everyone comes with the best intentions or at least is not intentially out to harm us. In fact, we are surprised and sometimes react in anger when we are not treated well because as far as we know we have done nothing to bring on the negative behavior. We have control only of our own words and actions, so be mindful when placing judgement on others. Today, listen carefully. By taking the time to truly listen to others, we learn more about ourselves and of others.

Everyone sees the beauty in nature differently...

Living A Joyful Life

Sometimes it is easier said than done to keep our committment to nurture ourselves, to set aside time to reflect upon our lives, and to take the initiative to help those in need. We have the best intentions, but somehow life gets in the way and we get caught up in our daily routines. We remind ourselves over and over again what we should be doing and feel bad that we're gotten off track again. If what we should be doing is so good for us, why is it so difficult to follow through? We create such high standards that it would be difficult for anyone including ourselves to meet these expectations. The universe is compassionate and forgiving, as we should be of ourselves. Today, put aside your strict standards and take a break. Do something that fills your heart with joy. Living a joyful life is sometimes the first step in caring for yourself and others.

Spending time with family and friends give me the greatest joy...

Facing Life's Challenges

In life, we are often faced with challenging situations. At times, they seem unsurmountable and we become overwhelmed, frozen by our emotions. On other days, we take on challenges, as if they are just stepping stones leading us towards our goals. Why is there such a difference in how we react? Our responses are often times guided by our mind, body, and spirit. So if we are mentally, physically, or spiritually exhausted, then we are not able to successfully overcome life's challenges. Today, take the time to care for yourself. Do something special to nurture your mind, body, and spirit, so you can meet life's challenges with positive results.

As shaky as it looks, I know I'll get a better view if I climb higher...

Choosing To Live Toxic Free

Sometimes in life, we meet people that come with negative energy. We're not sure what it is, but after interacting with them we leave feeling emotionally, psychologically, or physically drained. Some of these people we've had little to no interaction with in the past, others are people we've known for awhile. Everyone has energy whether it's positive or negative, it depends on the person. So when coming in contact with someone with negative energy, we react instinctively.  Depending on how sensitive we are to toxic energy, our reaction may vary based on the length of time and type of contact.  Sometimes we may not be able to avoid negative people all together because we either work with them or they are part of our family and group of friends. When this occurs, we can limit the interaction to a minimum and prepare ourselves mentally prior to meeting them. Today, let your inner spirit identify those people who carry negative energy and may do you harm. Be cautious of the people you bring into your life because you deserve to live your life surrounded by only those who truly love and care about you.

There are still places in the world that are surrounded by positive energy...

Reflecting Your True Spirit

The only thing in life we may know for sure is who we are and even then we have doubts. It's challenging enough to understand ourselves and why we do the things we do, then it is for us to comprehend the actions of others. Communication is sometimes difficult when we try to make sense of each other when coming from our own perspectives. Disagreements and conflict come out of hurt feelings when misunderstanding occurs. Most times, this was not the intention of the other person. Understanding others begins with learning more about ourselves. Today, choose your words, thoughts and actions with positive regard for others. Our lives flow much more gently when we reflect our true loving spirit.

What I see as beautiful others may not, but that's okay...

Realigning Yourself

Sometimes the most difficult time is not when we are questioning what to do with our lives, but are we doing what we are destined to do. For many of us, we plan our lives as carefully as possible. Even those of us, whose lives seem to be put together by chance. Our careers, friends, and leisure time are all part of who and what we have chosen. But still there are doubts within us that question whether we have made the right decisions especially when we are tired or things are not going as smoothly as we'd like it to be.  Living life and making decisions are part of our journey. If you feel as if things are not working well for you, it is not always the universe that is out of sinc. It may be that you have just hit a rough spot on your path. Today, take a short moment to reassess your life. Does your spirit feel at ease? If not make little adjustments to realign yourself so that you flow with the universe, not against it.

Water flows easily even in the most roughest of places...

Comfort In The Dark

Sometimes in life there are no answers that await us. There is only silence for a response. The questions asked are usually the profound and the ones that are accompanied with the most passion. Why was a loved one taken away? Why do we have to suffer so? Why don't I know what to do? We feel as if the universe is not hearing our cries. What lessons are we supposed to be learning because it causes us so much pain to be where we are at this moment and we wish it would end? Being in the dark unfamiliar place, surrounded by quiet is very unsettling. During difficult times, it's not about learning to be patient but how well we adapt to the emptiness of the moment. Instead of fighting against what has happened or is occurring, sit quietly and let your emotions flow through you. Sometimes you do not have to understand the reasons why things occur but know that no matter what is happening around you, you are still surrounded by a compassionate universe. Today, let the stillness of the universe flow around you. All you need to do in this moment is to quiet your mind and breath.

There are special places where the world stands so still...

Impacting The World

As we are growing up, we are taught to help those who are in need. So as adults, we are more aware that there are those less fortunate than ourselves. But how do we identify the needy. Is it by their physical appearance, by their economic situation, or the recent devastation in their area? There are so many people and countries who need our aid, where do we begin. If we are quiet for a moment and let the feeling of being overwhelmed flow over us, we may be pleasantly surprised that it may not be so difficult.  Today, open up your heart and see where it leads you. You won't have to identify people who need your help for your heart will reach out to them instinctively and will know what to do. By helping one person at a time, we begin to impact the world.

Sometimes I can't choose just one, they are all so beautiful...

Journey Beyond Your Limits

In life, we often times find that the challenges we encounter give us the opportunity to stretch our abilities and think outside of our comfort zones. Traveling to places we have always dreamed of, gives us the perfect excuse to stretch beyond the limits we have placed upon ourselves. We are the only ones who can open the door to the possibility that there is much more to life than we could ever envision. Our past experiences laid a strong foundation upon which we can pursue the unknown without fear. Today during a quiet moment, visual a place where you'd like to visit. A special place that has always resonated with you. Be prepared to journey where ever your spirit may lead you.

Sometimes we need to travel afar to see things from different perspectives...

Our Competitive Nature

In life, having a competitive nature is viewed as a strength and is often times encouraged. But what happens when we find ourselves unconsciously competing against family and friends to be better than they are for the sake of satisfying our ego. When our first thoughts about someone's good fortune is "I could have done that" or "I know I can do better than that" instead of "I'm so happy for them". Balancing the spirit of competition so that it doesn't affect all parts of your life is a challenging skill that needs constant nurturing and attention. Today, be aware of how often your thoughts, words, and actions reflect your competitive side.

I wish the universe had posted signs we could read...

Challenge Yourself

In the world we live in today, everyone moves so quickly. And with the aid of technology, we can get our needs met and communicate twice as fast. But what is also happening as a result of this, is an expectation that this is how our lives should be. Through the generations, we have become impatient and self-absorbed with ourselves and others when we are inconvenienced. Although many see it as a sign of progress when we've progressed so far in area of technology, there is now an inherent dependency on products that we feel make our lives more comfortable. Today, take a moment to imagine how your life would be without electricity. Then for one day this week, put aside one of the products that you use that needs electricity or batteries. Although this will be a challenge, know that your mind, body, and spirit need to rest and heal from the disturbances that come through technology.

In the country, there is a good reason why our cell phones stop working...

Living With Joy

There are so many things in this world that bring us joy, but when our lives become busy or routine they begin to go unnoticed. For some of us, we may have even begun to forget what we used to find joyful. We settle for mediocrity and then wonder when did our lives become so serious and mundane. We matured into adulthood and have left the curious child, who was always a part of us, behind.  Today, let the child within you smile, laugh, and play. You deserve to have joy and balance back into your life!

You don't think I look silly do you?

You Are Unique

Sometimes in life, we find ourselves trying so hard to fit in that we may begin to lose who we are inside. The things we believe to be true gets a little muddle when we begin living our lives for others.Well meaning friends and family may think that they know what is best for us, but until we take a moment to reasses who we are and our heart's desires, it may be easier to live our lives according to their vision. Today, remember that you are unique and your path is yours to experience and different from anyone else. You can walk down your path with quiet graciousness, knowing that what lies ahead is what you created, not what others have created for you.

I know we all look alike, but I'm the cute one with the flower on my hat...

First Impressions

When we first meet people, we create stories about them in our minds very quickly. Even before speaking to them, we feel confident that we know what type of person they are. But how accurate are we? Are we creating false stories that are blocking us from learning who these people truly are? Sometimes it is almost impossible not to make quick judgements about others, because first impressions are natural. But know that there are those when being in a new environment will present them falsely because they are unsure of who they are meeting. Today, take a moment to just observe and listen when meeting others. For in that time, you will be able to get a clearer picture of who they are and how to communicate successfully with them.

Sometimes I wonder how a person chooses what kind of slippers to buy...

Best Laid Plans

Let yourself be guided. Those words seem simple enough. It's only when we create plans in our minds that things don't always work out. There is a battle that takes place between what seemed to be a clear path towards what we'd like to achieve and what the universe has planned.  Although we might have difficulty understandng why another plan might be to our advantage, we are more willing to accept it. But letting go to the unknown seems so scary and almost impossible.  Today, take a deep breath and pause for a moment before opening yourself up to the gentle flow of the universe. Give yourself permission to accept the unknown over your best laid plans. You will not be lost in the struggle.

Maybe if I hide beyind this bush the universe won't see me...

A Perfect Day

What would our lives be like if every day was a perfect day? If the skies were always blue, if life was without struggle, and if we were never found wanting. Wouldn't that be wonderful? But if this was so, what would become of the spirit within us. How compassionate would we be towards others, if we ourselves have never been without? How would we understand true pain, if suffering was foreign to us? Today, give thanks to the inconviences and discomfort that disrupt our perfect lives, so that our resilient spirit continues to get stronger and wiser as it embraces the unknown that faces us each day.

There is so much perfection in nature...

Taking Chances

Sometimes as difficult as it may seem, we need to take more chances in life. To venture outside our comfort zone is so scary, when all we want to do is to exist within the safety of the walls we have constructed so carefully. We tell ourselves to be cautious when stepping beyond our confines, because of the possibilities of getting hurt. Today, trust that the compassionate universe has plans for us beyond what we could ever imagine. By taking chances, our journey has the opportunity to become much more extraordinary.

Our journey would be so much easier if there were clear directions in life...

Steps Towards Appreciation

Acknowledging those that support you is the first step towards appreciation. Identifyng the people that care for you in your life is important because they are the ones who will be there when you are going through difficult times. Although we know many, there are only a few who will rise to the occasion. When things are going well in our lives, we sometimes take these special people for granted. Today, appreciate all those who surround you with love as you journey on your path.

There is beauty everywhere, even growing between the rocks...

Accepting With Graciousness

Life is not only about giving to others but learning to accept with graciousness. It makes us feel good when we are able to nurture and support our family and friends. There is especially a sense of satisfaction if we are able to assist those who we have never met before or never will meet. We feel fortunate that we are in a position to help.  On the other hand, if life is about the balancing of energy, what happens when others try to extend their help or show appreciation to us. Do we humbly shake our heads and turn them away? Step back and reflect on how you feel when you help others. By not giving others the opportunity to help you or by not accepting their gift with graciousness, you have just denied them the same satisfaction   Today, go forward with your arms extended to help others and to accept what the universe offers you. Learn to balance the energies that flow around you with ease.

Thank you, it's just what I wanted...Is it chocolate?

Questions and Answers

There are many times in life when we ask questions that we really don't want to hear the answers to, but we still pose them. Then we wonder why the universe does not respond. The universe is compassionate in that it understands your fears and will sometimes wait until you are ready. If you receive a response before then you are apt to feel that the universe is working against you and question the logic. Think about the questions you have been asking. How long have you deliberated over them? How would the answers affect your life? Are you truly ready to hear the answers and to make life changes if necessary? Today, take a break from all your questions and live life to the fullest without hesitation. Sometimes you'll be surprised at how much life gets easier when we go with the flow instead of questioning it.

Sometimes I can hear myself better when its quiet...

Taking Care Of Yourself

After working so hard to meet the needs of our family and friends, it is sometimes difficult to recognize our own needs. We tend to ignore our desires when we put everyone's wishes before ours. The nurturing spirit within us wants to support them as they journey on their path, but this may be to the detriment of our own growth. Life is learning to help others, as we also learn to care for ourselves. Today, take a moment to do one thing nice for yourself. Do whatever will bring you joy. You are special and your effervescent spirit deserves to be acknowledged.

Okay, everyone sit here while I get myself a slice of chocolate cake...

Living Life

Instead of sitting on the sidelines, be an active participant in life. Although it sometimes seems safer to watch life go by while being complacent, life is about recognizing that the debris that get in our way, are really opportunities that lead us to growth. Our paths may not always be smooth and we often have to decide whether we want to continue on when things become difficult. Today, live life by getting off the bench and discovering that your journey has become more exciting.

Why do I have to get off the bench when it's so comfortable?

Beginning Anew

Celebrate the day knowing that you have a chance to begin anew. To be the person you strive to be, to work more diligently towards unfinished projects, or to correct past mistakes. Each new day presents us with the opportunity to change the course of our future. Today, overcome the fears and self doubt that normally prevent you from moving forward and begin to create a detailed picture of what you'd like your life to be. By taking action, you can turn your visions into reality.

I've always wanted to take a stand on what I believe...

The Unexpected Voyage

Although sometimes it seems as if we lose our direction or do not have a clear idea of our destination, we continue to travel through life. We try so hard to set the safest course as possible, but the thoughtful plans that we make are sometimes filled with trepidation of the future. It is in the experience of traveling that we stumble over our genuine selves and the spirit that lies within us. It's important to remember that the adventure is in the voyage. Today, throw away your compass and be open to all possibilities!

I don't work well without my compass...

The Suffering of Man

If we stop and look beyond the blessed life we live, we all know of a person or family who are in need. Hunger, homelessness, and illness touches everyone at one time. Although it may not be our journey, there may be family and friends who are walking this difficult path right now. It is during these times, that we question how can we best help. If we are too close, we are apt too rush in with more emotion, then reason. By taking a step back before reacting, you give them the respect and dignity that they deserve while they share their experience and plans with you. Honor their strength and resilience, instead of feeling sorry for them.  What is needed may be very different from what you think. Sometimes being quiet and supporting their plans is the most difficult. Today, let your compassionate heart not only hear the pain of those who are near but to discern what your true role is in helping them.

If you know the size of the cut, buying the right bandage is easier...

Moving Forward

Many of us are in the process of fulfilling our heart's desire but somehow it remains elusive. We've identified our desire and may have even started working towards it, but it always seems to be outside of our grasp. Our self doubt and fears are so strong that they prevent us from accomplishing so much. Our negative self talk can be very destructive. At times like this, bring out the nurturing spirit that lies within us all, to help guide you through your challenging journey. Today, think of your heart's desire and begin posing questions to your compassionate spirit. How can I proceed? What are the obstacles that stop me? How can I nurture and love myself? Write the questions and answers down so you don't forget. After asking the question, give yourself only two seconds to begin writing the answer down. You do not want to let your self talk get in the way. Do not read the answers that you have written until you've asked all of your questions. Once you receive all your answers, give thanks for the help you've received and then go back and read your answers. Whenever you feel that you're having difficulty reaching your heart's desire, re-read your answers to help you to move forward.

I look much braver than I feel...

Best Laid Plans

Sometimes when life flows too easily, we get a little nervous that things will occur to shake things up. Why do we even make plans if they are going to go awry? We are so proud of ourselves when we think we see our path so clearly and are now able to make sense of the twists and turns that present themselves. In fact, we feel so good that we formulate plans that may really work. Then out of nowhere, we trip on debris that we didn't see or have to stop completely because a boulder has blocked our way. When your path becomes less easy to navigate, stop and sit for awhile. Take a breath and regroup. Let whatever is happening...happen. Know that this to shall pass. Plans are just that...plans. Today, no matter how much your world gets rocked and plans get tossed to the wind, know that you can just step aside and continue on as soon as your world stops shaking and your path becomes clear again.

Sitting on a purple bench seems like the best thing for me right now

A Quiet Place

Sometimes there seems to be room for only me. There is no space for anyone else. Whether due to being tired, overwhelmed with the little things in life, or just because... When I go to that special place in my mind, I can breathe with ease. It feels good to get away from the noisy chatter of the day and enjoy the quiet during this moment. Closing my eyes for just seconds and filling my mind with empty thoughts. Today, spend some time in your quiet place so that you can refresh your spirit and conquer the world tomorrow.

Just breathing seems to be enough...

The Thread Of Life

The thread that weaves through our lives may be intricately woven between those that are close to us. But there are also singular strands that connect us to strangers for just a moment. And within that short period, a lifetime of changes may occur. At the end of our life, the thread that has been woven shimmers so brightly as it has collected energies from a lifetime of contacts. Today, acknowledge your sparkling thread as it continues to join you to those that will impact your life.

There are so many things in life that shimmer...
