Facing Our Fears

Throughout our life, we are faced with challenges that help us to move further in our journey. It is up to us whether we accept these opportunities or not. Only we can decide if it's time to overcome our fears. Sometimes facing the unknown is scary and can paralyze us from moving forward. We come up with our standard excuses and become defensive and sometimes hurtful to others when they try to help us to reach our heart's desire. Now is the time to take responsibility for our future. If we are truly committed to moving forward, then we must stop making excuses and take action towards change. Today, do something that challenges you. Although it may bring up insecurities and past fears, know that this experience will make you stronger and that much closer to your heart's desire. You are unique and deserve all that is offered to you.

There is no age limit when striving to attain our heart's desire...

True Intentions

What has occurred to me recently is that when referring to living a life of true intentions, I was only focusing on positive intentions. But is this an accurate portrayal of what is real. There are times when we are so angry, frustrated, and hurt, that disregarding what we feel would be disingenuous. So when responding to others, we are rude and short tempered, hurting feelings along the way. But this is the life that we live. This is real. When living a life that is genuine, whether positive or negative, we continue to move forward on our journey. Today, be true to yourself. Let your spirit guide you through the day by acknowledging and respecting your feelings. Be kind to yourself and others.

Sometimes I wish we had instructions telling us how to live our lives...

Taking Action

Many of us read "how to" books and listen to others share their words of wisdom. We take copious notes of what we have read, so we don't miss a step that may change the direction of our fortune. We listen intently to each words shared hoping that they may some how make our lives better. We feel that the words we have read and that are being spoken, are meant solely for our benefit. Actually, reading and listening to others are only the first step towards change. The true challenge begins by implementing what we have read and heard. The process of change includes: reading, listening, understanding, then taking action by integrating what we have learned in our daily lives. Creating a life of compassion takes resolve and committment that we will live a life taking care of ourselves so we can help others. Today, begin the day by laying aside your books and taking a break from listening to others. Take this moment to put what you have learned into practice. Remember to choose your words carefully and come from a place of quiet compassion. You deserve to live a life with peace in your heart.
Let creativity flow from that special place in your heart...

Knowing Thyself

One of the things we often we hear, is how important it is to know thyself. We can learn more about ourselves by meditating and reflecting upon who we are. But what happens when our spirit becomes stronger as we work towards living a life with true intentions? How does our life change as our insight into human nature becomes clearer? As our journey continues, we will need to be aware when we are being intolerant and judgemental towards others. We are no different from anyone else. We are here to be true to ourselves, so that we can help others. We are all evolving, so we can only see others for who they were yesterday and what they choose to be today. There are reasons that people are in our lives, not always for the good. But it is one of our lessons to learn to acknowledge these people with respect, then send them on their way. Today, be wise when choosing your words, for words are energy and will be part of the universal flow. Remember when you hurt others intentionally, it comes back to you in many other ways. Take a deep breath and ask your spirit to guide you towards living a life of true compassion.
I wish life was as simple as a flowing stream,
at least I would know the direction I was going...

Being In The Present

Sometimes we are so busy with life that it's difficult for us to slow down and enjoy the moment. We worry about the tasks we've just completed. Wondering if we've missed anything or if we could have done things better. Then there is the future, where we often times get stuck being anxious about events that most likely may never occur. It is challenging for some of us to stop and be comfortable where we are. In fact, we need to remind ourselves frequently that whatever we are experiencing at this time is important. With every moment comes the opportunity to lead a fulfilled life. Today, calm down. The words "Go with the flow" is the most appropriate mantra for the day. Let there be laughter and joy in your heart as you enjoy life to the fullest!

If I can slow down, anyone can...

Keeping Safe During The Storm

We have no more control of the universe, than we do of our life journey. But sometimes it's possible to prepare for the unexpected. By planning for disasters, we have peace of mind that we have done all we can to be safe. But there are those who are more fatalistic and chose to be more reactive than proactive. They watch the news about natural disasters and world events anticipating the drama that unfolds. The pain and suffering of others have become more of a reality show, than a time when we should be pulling together to assist those in need. The world has become too small and interconnected for us to feel that one person can not make a difference. Today, take a moment to send a prayer out to those who are anxious and fearful so that they may have peace in their hearts. Although there is chaos in the world, you can still live a compassionate life.

When we are at peace, all seems well...

Thursday, August 25, 2011

There are those who would like to steal time away from us. Precious time that we would be otherwise spending with family and friends or caring for ourselves. We need to be diligent when keeping them at bay. They come with many faces and stories, and at times we are unknowingly drawn into their drama. We are all nurturers by heart, but those who are especially kind hearted tend to be more susceptible than others. So when thinking of helping others, ask yourself is this for the greater good for all. Then let your spirit guide you to do what is best. Today, take a break. Do whatever makes you happy and joyful. The universe will continue to flow as you rejuvenate your tired spirit.

Sometimes it seems as if I am juggling so many things,
if I am not careful they will all fall and break...

Flowing Gently With The Universe

One of the most challenging things to do in life, is learning to slow down. In our society, we are constantly rushing and the act of waiting is often times painful. Writing letters has become obsolete, because texting is now the norm. The act of waiting in line is now filled with catching up with messages on our phones. If we were to pause for a moment, how uncomfortable would it be. Emptying our minds as well as relaxing our bodies takes concentrated effort. We do not attain our heart's desire only because we are moving faster. Today, flow gently with the universe while you attend to your tasks. Challenge yourself by not responding too quickly to the communications you receive. Take the time to reflect upon your every action. For it is with thoughtful purpose that we live a life of true intention.
Sometimes when we move too quickly, we miss the beauty that surrounds us...

Learning To Balance Our Life

For many of us, living a balanced life would be ideal. A life without stress and drama. This would be the perfect scenario, but it wouldn't be a true reflection of balance. To be in balance would mean to live somewhere between a chaotic and peaceful existence. Learning to ground oneself, so that you are never too far from the center. We are like the Sequoia trees, planted firmly in the ground for hundreds of years. No matter what comes our way, we stand strong. So live a balanced life by experiencing all there is in life while continuing on our path. Today, take the time to concentrate on your breathing. It should be steady and strong. Whenever you find yourself breathing to rapidly because of what you're experience, quickly quiet yourself and concentrate on slowing down your breathing. Between your breaths say to yourself three times, "This too shall pass". Mastering your breathing is the first step towards balancing your life.
No one has ever said our journey would be a smooth one,
but we can find beauty along the path if we choose to open our eyes...

Prepare for the Unexpected.

Sometimes no matter how careful we are planning our life, something unexpected happens that we need to change our direction. Life has a way of keeping us on our toes. Our journey is as unpredictable as the weather, so it shouldn't be so surprising that we need to adapt quickly when the wind begins to pick up and it starts to rain. Expect the unexpected and you will do fine. Today, flow with whatever comes your way. It'll be interesting to see how your future may change depending upon the choices you make during the day.
No matter how often we read the signs, they seem to keep adding things...

Being Still And Quiet

Sometimes being surrounded by noise and movement all the time, it seems a little unusual when things become quiet and still. We are so used to getting the most done during our waking hours, that when we don't it's as if we have wasted a day. During these moments when everything quiets down and the noises ceases to be, we realize how challenging it is for us to be still as well as quiet. Life is not all about movement, but moving in time with the Universal flow. Today, appreciate the stillness, for it is during these quiet moments that you truly absorb what you've learned through the day.
We should all take the time to smell the flowers...

Have Faith That All Is Well

Although there are many that surround us, there are times when we walk alone on our journey. Quiet moments when our heart aches because we feel that our path is a solitary one. Gather strength by knowing that even if we think we are alone, there are many who are walking along side of us. Although no one knows what the future may bring, know that the universe hears our prayers and sees our tears. Have faith that all is well. Today, open your eyes, ears, and heart to the universal messages that are being sent to you. You live in a compassionate world. Now accept what you have manifested with graciousness.
Please sit awhile with me as life moves slowly by...

Life's Unexpected Surprises

Sometimes life brings us unexpected surprises that turn our calm life upside down. The confusion may last for only a day or may seem as if it will never end. How quickly we adapt to the situation at hand, depends on how grounded and stable our spirit is. For some of us, we are quick to assess and address the problem. When we understand that we have no control over what has happened, we can then move forward with confidence. For those who struggle to keep their heads barely afloat amongst the chaos, they believe that all of life's woes are directed at them and are used to seeing themselves as part of the problem. Although our journey is unique, know that we all walk the path of the unknown. It's how we approach the unknown that is important. Today, trust that your inner spirit will guide you through the chaos. Know that you deserve to live a life of compassion.  Embrace life, even the unexpected surprises.
As difficult as it may be to climb, these steps are so beautiful...

Celebrating Our Birth Date

There are many of us who would rather forget our birth date. It's just another reminder that we are getting older and are still searching for...well, we really aren't sure what it is that we are looking for, but we'll know it if we find it. As the years go by, we're less apt to acknowledge it's significance. Although we may not feel like celebrating, it's the perfect time to review the past year and assess where we are on our life's journey. Moving forward, use your birth date as a day of reflection on how closely you are flowing with the universal energy. Today, although it may not be your birth date do a quick check in with yourself. Are you living a life of true intentions and of pure heart? If not, what changes do you need to make to be in harmony with yourself. Celebrate your birth date, for it's a day of renewal.
I cut this flower just for you!
Have a Happy Birthday!

Living A Healthy Life

When we talk about taking care of ourselves, we are usually referring to our physical health. Although nurturing our mind and spirit is equally as important, it seems as if we concentrate more on what we can immediately attend to. As easy as it may seem, it is challenging to change bad habits in order to maintain a healthy lifestyle. We understand that eating the right foods and exercising is the right thing to do, but making a life committment seems almost impossible. We are very enthusiastic when we first begin, but as time goes on we revert back to our bad habits of eating without limits and not exercising. Know that you are not alone on your journey, there are so many of us that are walking this walk in order to live a longer and healthier life. This week, be aware of what you are eating and how much activity you are getting. Then start with baby steps in changing your daily routine. When you begin caring yourself, you are able to care for others.
I was going to go on a 5 mile ride today, but I lost the key for my bike lock.
So I guess I'll go tomorrow...

Fighting Against Change

Although it is said that change is good, for some of us changing the status quo is difficult. We are lulled into accepting mediocrity, when we've created a safe world. There is comfort being surrounded by familarity. But as the seasons change, so do our lives. Nothing stays the same. Although we may not like what is happening, we can prepare for the unexpected. By living a life of compassion, we understand that the world doesn't revolve around us. We are here to learn about ourselves and how we can help others. The universe continuously evolves as do we.  Today, reflect upon all the recent changes in your life and how you've adapted to them. By flowing with the universal energy, you can achieve so much more in life. Instead of waiting for your life to change, use change as a vehicle to pursue your heart's desire.
I can't believe I'm not falling...

The Beauty Of Where We Live

There are days when we don't feel insinc with where we live. We understand that we are where we need to be, but it doesn't stop us from yearning to be elsewhere. The time it takes us to envision what our life would be like someplace else, we miss the beauty and opportunities that are unfolding right in front of us.  Today, take a moment to discover the wonders of where you are. Experience the world around you, as your spirit continues to guide you towards your heart's desire.
I finally found my home, I'm here to stay...

Learning To Relax

Sometimes there are times when life moves along too quickly and we become overwhelmed. These are moments when we need to take a breath and be still. Learning to relax is not as easy as it seems and for some of us, it may be a difficult task. The feeling that we need to be active in order to be productive. But by listening to our inner spirit, we can achieve more. As the universe flows through us, we become rejuvenated. Today, nurture your spirit so it can recuperate from the chaos that surrounds you. Give yourself permission to take a moment to pause.

Come let's take a walk on the beach...

Take Action

For most of us, we'd like to save the world if we could. There are so many problems even within our own neighborhood: hunger, homelessness, and poverty. Reading the newspaper and going on the internet, we see that the problems are surmounting. Knowing this, we get caught up in the enormity of the problem that we feel helpless and overwhelmed. Sometimes the only way we can cope is to put blame on others. "Who's fault is it?"  "Who is going to fix this mess?" By doing this, we forget that the child who is hungry and the family who is homeless doesn't care about who's fault it is or who is going to fix their situation. If we stop talking and take action, we can help those in need. Today, talk less and do more. Get up and do something for someone else. The universe gives us opportunities everyday to make a difference!

There are blue skies beyond the tangles of life...

Being True To Yourself

It seems easy enough to say "Be true to yourself". But what does this really mean? For some of us, it's easier to go along with the crowd. Letting others make decisions for us. But life isn't about walking someone else's path. It's about going outside of our comfort zone. It's learning to pay closer attention to our nurturing spirit. Whether listening to the internal conversations we have with ourselves when questioning the negative actions of others or being aware of how our body reacts whenever someone is doing or saying something harmful and we don't do anything about it. Being true to yourself is not an easy path, but it is one that you know you'll walk with purpose. Today, be aware of how your body reacts to what others say and do. Listen closely and respect your thoughts. You are true to yourself, when you no longer fear walking alone. Your journey is a unique one, now have the courage to claim it.

I don't care what others say, this tree is beautiful...

Living a Balanced Life

There are times in our life, when we feel as if we are on a roller coaster ride. It seems as if some days are perfect and going our way. We are sure that we are blessed and on the right path. Then there are those days, when the bottom has fallen out, when staying in bed with the covers over our head seems to be the best option. As crazy and unstable as life can be, there is purpose in each day. We shouldn't have to wait for the day to unfold to determine whether we are going to have a good day or not. When we let ourselves be guided by our inner spirit and live a life of compassion, we stand firm and grounded no matter what comes our way. Today, let your spirit guide you through the day, for you deserve a moment to relax, reflect, and rejuvenate!

You don't have to wait for the mail to decide how your day will be...

We Are All Connected

As we watch what is occuring throughout the world, we have become indifferent and detached. We have accepted the unacceptable in the comforts of our homes. Everything we read and watch has become a 60 minute reality show. We seem so far away from what is happening. The rioting in London, the famine in Africa, and the wars in the Middle East affects us all. The universal energy that flows within us, flows throughout the world. We all have the power to change what is happening. Today, make a difference by doing something for another person. We can show our compassion in many ways. Let's begin within our own communities, before we take on the world!

Living A Life With Purpose

When asked "What is your life's purpose?", we often don’t have an answer or we may have a vague idea.  While reflecting upon this is important, it is also vital that you ask yourself “What makes you get up each morning?” This may sound simple enough, but there are many of us who get up each morning without having a clear purpose. Whether it’s to get the kids to school on time; finish a project at work; or go out for a run, there is a reason why we need to start our day. It is human nature to get caught up with the divine questions of life, but it is everyday living that makes us who we are. In order to discover our life’s purpose, we have to get up each morning and live a life with purpose. Today, think about the words you choose, the thoughts you have, and the actions you take. Are they truly a reflection of who you are and want to be? Learning about your life’s purpose begins with learning more about yourself.

Life is about taking chances. Now get in the boat...

Manifesting Our Desires

There are times when we wish our life was a little different. "I know my life would be better if I  ..." We pray on it, create vision boards, and even buy "how to" books, so we can attain our desires. When we unexpectedly receive what we asked for, we often say that we manifested it. But what about those who haven't received the detailed instructions on how to manifest. Do they go through life not being able to attain their heart's desires? The universe flows unceasingly, whether we know how to manifest or not. When we release the need to control our lives, our journey will be provided with what we desire. Today, do something different. Instead of concentrating on yourself, focus on another person who needs your help. By doing for others selflessly, we fulfill one of our own spirit's desire, to live a compassionate life.
Seeing beauty like this,
know that the universe is creating something as beautiful in your own life...

Positive Thinking Brings Positive Outcomes

There are times when we give others the power to direct our life.  These are people who are filled with negative energy, who seem to hold us hostage so we have difficulty moving forward in our life. We feel confused, angered, and helpless by their actions towards us. Our response is to talk about them to who ever will listen. "Why are they doing this?" "What should I do?"  "What did I do to them?" As we give more of our time and energy to the negativity, it begins to build in strength and we become victims of our own making. To prevent this from happening, immediately stop talking about these people. Say a prayer of compassion for them and wish them well. The universe will guide you to people who will nurture you and fill your world with genuine love. Today, stop being a victim of negativity. Stay true to who you are and your heart's desire will be fulfilled.
Although I'm very small, my love for you is as big as the biggest sea turtle you have ever seen...

Understanding Chaos

In life, it is our hope that we live a peaceful existence. That we surround ourselves with nurturing and supportive souls, but often times there are those who create chaos in our lives. Whether they are a friend or family member, we begin to question why the universe has placed them with us. If our life's purpose is to live a more compassionate life, shouldn't the universe bring those who can teach us about compassion. Stop! I get it. If we had more control over our journey, we would choose an easier path.  But how will we learn about true compassion, if we are not forced to experience these painful situations. It would have to be a loved one because they mean more to us than someone we don't know. We may not understand where our journey takes us, but know that the universe flows through us giving us the strength to overcome anything. Today, reflect upon the people in your life. Know that whether they are supportive of you or not, they are all there to guide you towards your heart's desire.

I am so appreciative of the special people in my life...

B - I will miss your laughter and smiling face.
Be true to yourself and you will always find your way through life!

Taking The Time To Heal Ourselves

There are days when we just don't feel well. From the time we get up bleary eyed, till the time we fall into our bed, we know it's just been one of those off days. The universe continues to flow patiently, giving us permission to take the time off to heal ourselves. On these days, it's better for us to be still and recuperate then it is for us to continue conquering the world. For today, listen to your body and let it nurture you. For those of us who need rest, we will stay in bed and let the world go by without us. And for those of you who are in good health, continue to let your spirit guide you on your journey towards your heart's desire.

Just being near the ocean seems to heal my spirit...

Kindred Spirits

Sometimes in life, there are people that we meet for the very first time and find that there is an immediate connection. Although on the surface, it may look like we have nothing in common, when we meet it's as if we are reconnecting with a long lost friend. It's difficult to explain why we feel so comfortable and relaxed. Although these are people who nurture our soul, sometimes they are only with us for a moment in time. As sad as this may be, know that they are placed in our life for a specific purpose, to reconfirm with our spirit that there is a compassionate universe that truly believes in our journey. Today, appreciate all the kindred spirits that are around you, who are there to uplift your soul. Relax, reflect, and rejuvenate knowing that you are a divine being.

Now that I've raised these loving kindred spirits,
they are ready to go out and help others...

Sitting Quietly Through Chaos

There are times in life, when we see a friend or family member struggle on their path. It is painful to watch as they fight with their inner demons. As much as we'd like to help them through this rough patch, we must remind ourselves that this is not our journey. Understanding that the battle being fought is not ours, may help us so that we do not get swept up in the madness. Living a compassionate life is challenging because we want to help others in pain, but it also teaches us that through chaos we discover a better understanding of the resilient spirit that lies within us all. Today, take a deep cleansing breath and know that the stronger you become in spirit, the more you are able to guide those who seek your help.
Sometimes it's difficult to sit quietly when there is chaos all around me...

Choosing Our Words Carefully

There are times in life, when we make commitments to ourselves and to others. At that moment, we have every intention of fulfilling our obligations. In fact, we are enthusiastic about having committed ourselves to something we believe in. As time goes by, our interest wanes and we lose the momentum that we initially had. When reminded of what we had said, we shrug it off as if it wasn't important and it didn't matter. But it is important and it does matter because life is about the commitments we make to ourselves and others. It's about listening more carefully to what we are saying, for our words have energy. How long before our words lose all their meaning? Today, choose your words carefully and only commit to what you believe you can see through to the end. For there is power in living a life of true intentions.

I know I promised you could paint your room any color, but orange...

Glitches In Life

Some days it seems as if the universe flows slightly off course. When life is suddenly filled with miscommunication and misunderstanding. Nothing that would be considered a major crisis, but just enough to make us stop and question our actions. Did we forget something? Did we say the right thing? What are we missing? We begin to doubt ourselves. These glitches in life are part of our journey. It's up to us how we react to them. We can have a major meltdown or take it in stride. However we respond, the universe continues to flow through us.  Today, take note of all the little mishaps that are happening around you and resolve them one at a time. Know that this to is part of your life journey.
It doesn't matter how difficult the course, water always flows effortlessly...
