Taking The Time For Gratitude

We often times hear that we should take a moment to be grateful for the things we have been blessed with. But how many of us actually do this everyday or even once a week. Maybe it's been a passing thought every once and awhile when things are going good. It's only when our life is not going well that we begin to notice that there is something missing. Like everything else, doing something that we've not done on a regular basis takes time and commitment. Even taking the time to identify one thing seems one thing too many when adding to our already busy life and making a commitment to do this daily is easy enough to do, but it would be a miracle if we remember what it was that we committed to by the end of the day. If we took just a second every morning to do this, it would change the course of our day. We live in a universe that is overflowing with blessings. The wonderful thing is that even if we don't take the time to be grateful, we would continue to receive them. The universe sees you for what you are, not what it receives from you. Today, identify at least one blessing in your life that you are grateful for. Give thanks for it was given to you unconditionally. Blessings are just the universe's way to shine a light on your path, so you do not stumble through the darkness.

Nature's beauty shines upon us every day.

Learning To Be A Friend To Yourself

If we are everything to everyone, does that leave enough time and energy to take care of ourselves. In living a compassionate life, we strive to be loving and supportive to all others, but in doing this we forget that this includes nurturing ourselves. Would we even recognize the signs that we are being depleted before it's too late? What if we were to care for ourselves as we care for those in need or in pain? When we ourselves become physically ill or emotionally exhausted, of what use are we to others then. We are no different than anyone else, we all need to be loved and cared for. Today, treat yourself as if you were your own best friend. Speak respectfully, listen intently, and give yourself the encouragement you need. You are a child of the universe like everyone else. You deserve to live a life surrounded by loving hands, including your own.

Sometimes it takes getting used to something unfamiliar to us...

There Is Light Beyond The Darkness

When we are not balanced, the world often feels as if it is tilting off it's axis. It's as if our life is not quite what it should be and we have no control in righting what is wrong. Nothing makes sense anymore and it takes all of our energy to understand why we can't handle things that we normally would. It leaves us depleted and worn out. Everything we do and say doesn't come out as we intend it to. There seems to be room for only frustration, sadness, and anger. Try as we might, the darkness we find ourselves in feels too deep to climb out of. Without a light to guide us and lead us out of the darkness, it is difficult to find our way. Although we know that the universe shines bright beyond the fog, at this time it's difficult to imagine what the warmth of the light would feel like. It is our challenge to find a way out of the dark place that we have imprisoned ourselves in. Today, take responsibility for where you are. Acknowledge and respect that you may not be where you feel you should be. Work through the mist or if you feel unable to, get help. Although you may feel alone, there is someone standing next to you that you can lean on. Hold out your hand and let others lead you out of the darkness.

Although we'd like our path to be smoother,
there is beauty if we look beyond the rocks...

New Life Brings Hope For The Future

For some of us, a newborn represents a symbol of all that is good in the world. It comes with innocence, not knowing fear of things to come. There is hope when we look into the their eyes, that all will be well. Every day a child is born, the world has an opportunity to right it's wrong. But as happy an occasion this may be, it is also very scary that we hold so much responsibility in raising this child who has come to us like an blank slate. We wish for guidance that we raise this child to be a compassionate soul and loving to others. Today, live life as if you were a newborn. Leave all your baggage in the closet and close the door. As you go through the day, be aware of everything that surrounds and experience it anew. Know that you will always be a child to a compassionate universe.

So many mixed emotions when a baby comes into the world...

Letting Fear Guide Our Lives

For some of us, instead of letting our inner spirit guide us, we let our fears immobilize us. In anticipating all the things that can go wrong, we often times close our eyes to new opportunities. We become stagnant because the stories we tell ourselves are so scary that it somehow seems safer to just avoid what we don't know. No matter what others tell us to alleviate our fears, we question their reliability. What do they know? Having fear is a good thing because it helps us to assess the current situation and plan for the future. But it can quickly turn into a detriment when it takes over our lives and prevents us from living life. Today, identify the fears that are preventing you from moving forward. Acknowledge them with respect, understand their purpose, then with inner courage open your arms to your potential.

It is only by taking a leap of faith can we see more clearly...

Expressing Ourselves

Our emotions change daily, depending on what we are experiencing. It is a spontaneous response to what has occurred. Emotions are neither good or bad. We are the ones who label them, but when we do this we begin to filter our how we truly feel. Know that our initial reaction is truthful. It is not the emotions that are negative, it is the behaviors we choose to express our feelings that may not be appropriate. Although we need to be honest with ourselves and how we feel, we are still responsible to be mindful of others by not hurting them purposefully. Today, take a closer look at how you are expressing your feelings. Are your behaviors hurting others?Be thoughtful when communicating with others how you feel. Yes, living a life that is true to you is not easy and will always be a work in progress.

Art is a beautiful way to express our feelings...

A World Gone Awry

There are days when everything around us seems to go wrong. As soon as we step out of bed, the world seems to have gone awry. As time goes by the craziness continues to follow us. It's as if the universe decided to change direction for just a moment and no matter what we try to do to fix things as they unfold, it just doesn't work. So on days like these we need to keep out of harm's way by staying close to home. The less interaction we have with others the better. Like everything else, this too shall pass. Today, be patient with others. It doesn't make sense if we get angry or upset at the little things, because this is just a glitch in the universal vibration. So take some "me" time away from all the chaos that surrounds you. Know that tomorrow will be a better day.

The way she's going today, I hope she remembers to take us out of the truck...

Secrets of the Universe

There are no secrets hidden in the universe for us to reveal. Everything is waiting to be discovered in our own time. Nothing is being purposefully kept from our view. When we are ready to see and know all, the veil will be lifted. It will be as if we were blind and now can see and understand things more clearly. Being caught up in our daily lives, we move at such a fast pace that we may only see glimpses of what exists around us. There may be moments when we hear or feel something so strongly, but we end up questioning ourselves and asking others for their advice. Know that the universal energy flows through us all and that it is up to us to open ourselves to accept what surrounds us.  Today, take off your blinders. Ask and you shall receive. There are no secrets for you to reveal, there are only opportunities for you to discover.
When we see such beauty in the world, it's a wonder we question if there are universal secrets that are being hidden from us...

Having Faith During Difficult Times

Sometimes it's difficult to watch and listen to a loved one going through a challenging period. As much as we'd like to make things better, it's part of their journey to experience. As much as we want to keep them safe and out of harm's way, there is strength to be found walking through uncharted territory. We can only be there to support and lend encouraging words, for we don't really know what opportunities await them around the corner. Know that although we feel so helpless, there are others whose light shines so bright that will always be there to protect our loved ones. Today, be strong knowing that all will be well. You will see how adversity and struggle in life creates a compassionate soul. Send out your prayers to the universe that your loved ones will have a better day.

Sometimes our heart breaks knowing we are so far away
and unable to help our loved ones who are not feeling well...

Release Your Burdens

Sometimes in life we hold on so tightly to our burdens that we have difficulty opening our arms to new opportunities. For if we did, everything that we've been holding would tumble out of control. We are filled with fear of the "What ifs?"  The trouble with "what ifs" is that we are never statisfied with the answers that we come up with to that question. Getting caught up in the cycle of our fears leads us to immobility. By releasing our burdens to the universe, we are free to explore life more fully. Today, push aside your worries just for a moment. They will be waiting for you tomorrow. Now have yourself a day of pleasure. The universe flows much more easily through us when we have our arms open to receive.

Sharing a meal with friends is sometimes the best remedy...for anything.

Taking An Active Role In Life

If we are being presented with the same challenges over and over again, it's time to stop and figure out what is going on. What are we supposed to be learning? Why do we keep coming across the same type of people that create difficulties in our lives? Why are some chaotic situations so familiar? Instead of blaming others or trying to keep out of harm's way, we need to look at ourselves before targeting innocent parties. Although it's easier to direct our confusion towards another person because it's hard to grasp that we are doing this to ourselves. If we want to change what keeps occurring, then we need to climb out of our comfort zone and get rid of the debris that continues to cling to us. Let's look at the hard truths even if it hurts. The universe continues to give us chances every day to start anew and change the direction of our future. Today, be brutally honest with yourself. Identify the destructive patterns in your life and create a plan to get rid of them. With a concentrated effort, you can achieve anything.

I know the day will be better if I'm wearing this beautiful hat...

Making Our Own Decisions

When making difficult decisions, it is important that we look into our hearts to do what is right for us. It is natural that we ask friends for direction and follow their advice, but we are forgetting that we are ultimately responsible for our own actions. So don't let the fear of making the wrong decision overwhelm you and let others steer you away from what you know to be true. For there is also the risk of losing who we are when we let others direct our journey instead of deciding what is best for ourselves. Remember living a life that is true is often times difficult and there will be situations where we need to be strong and stand up to others with confidence. Today, walk the talk. Life is often filled with uncomfortable situations that each of us must face, so there is no excuse when you hurt and forget those who are trusting that you will do the right thing. It's easy to be a follower and not make waves, but when you do nothing, nothing changes does it? At some point, you need to say to yourself and others, "This is who I am now and I believe in myself!"

Although these all look alike,
without tasting them we will never know how different they are...

A Day of Rest

Sometimes there are days when we just need to kick back and relax. It's not that we have less to do or are without our daily tasks, but when the busy days outweigh the taking care of ourselves days then it's time to balance ourselves. Our journey will continue whether we stop and have fun for the day. The universe will continue to flow even if we step aside for a moment. Let the day unfold itself without any plans. Today, have fun. No worries, no checklists, no schedules. Do whatever makes you feel good. You can catch up with the universe tomorrow.

Do something bizarre today...

Fighting To Be Unique

All of us are categorized as being part of a group, whether based on gender, ethnicity, choice of career, etc. This leads to assumptions that everyone in the group tends to act and feel the same way. At this time, it is more important than ever to know who we are. We are not only only part of a subgroup because of our birth or choices that we have made, but we are all unique individuals. No one knows who we are or what we are capable of until we decide to reveal ourselves. Know that being part of a group is one of the building blocks of our foundation, but we must build upon that to reach our potential. Today, be sure of who you are. Do not let others lead you astray by putting doubts in your mind, for they see you as part of a group not as an individual who has unique potential. By continuing to let your inner spirit guide you on your path, you will not question yourself but stay true to who you are.

These vegetables are so fresh, but each one has a unique taste and texture...

Easier Said Than Done

It's so much easier to say we're going to do something, then actually do it. We know that we shouldn't worry about what the future will bring because we have no control over it. We understand that we should go with the flow otherwise we'd be in a state of constant struggle. We've learned that helping others can make a difference. But even with all of this knowledge, it doesn't make it any easier for us to incorporate it in our lives. Some days, it's a challenge to know what is best for us versus what we end up doing which turns out to be detrimental to our mind, body, and spirit. Each day as we wake up in the morning, we have a choice to make, whether we do the best we can with what we know or live expecting life to just unfold itself before our eyes. We may not always make the best choices, but the next time we do choose, hopefully it will be the right choice for us. Today, think about what you know to be true. Are you meeting your own expectations? If not, begin taking small steps towards living a life that reflects who you are and who you would like to be. You have the ability to do many things, if you'd only see the strength others see within yourself.

Sometimes when we see something we've never seen before we are in awe. But then we remember that somebody had to create this out of their imagination. There is so many things yet to be created...

Changes In Our Life

Every day each of us have an opportunity to start anew. Whether we choose to continue on the same path that we have been walking or to turn in another direction is up to us.  Being complacent in our lives, we sometimes forget that although it seems as if time has stopped, we are still evolving and we may not be the same person as we were yesterday. When we become too comfortable, the universe may alter our plans. Then it is up to us to adapt to our new circustances or to fall apart in confusion. Be mindful of how quickly life can change and know that we do have strength within us to handle what comes our way. Today, be quiet within yourself. Reflect upon the year. Think about the many changes have occurred in your life and how you have reacted. Remember opportunities don't come your way if not for a change in your normal patterns. Be accepting to all the possibilities that are being sent your way.

In blowing glass, I learned that although the artist has something in mind,
he has to be flexible to whatever happens because glass is so fluid that
it often times creates itself.

Angels In Disguise

Sometimes in life the universe sends angels in disguise to help us on our journey. Although we've read about angels and have seen glorious pictures of them with wings and an illuminating glow around them, it's never quite like that in real life. They seem to show up when we least expect it and they always seem to change their appearance. They come in all sizes, ages, gender, and ethnicity. That's what keeps us on our toes. Think about how many times we've prayed for help and felt that our prayers went unanswered but then we meet someone who lifts us out of our difficulties. Know that the universe does hear our prayers and cries for help, but we have to keep an open mind to those who come to help us. Today, look around you and see how many angels surround you. See beyond their disguises and remember to acknowledge their kindness and generosity and thank them. You live in a compassionate universe, so help others and become an angel to someone else.

Flowers are like angels. They spread joy just by being so beautiful...

Who Are We To Judge Others

Believing what we know to be true, it's sometimes difficult not to judge others. We may feel so strongly about our beliefs that instead of learning more about the person, we jump in and begin our practiced spiel. We reject other cultures, religions, and ways of life in the name of what we believe to be true. Beneath our smiles and grand gestures of friendship, we are strategically planning on how we can teach you a better way. By continuing on this path, we will be rejecting the unique value others bring to our lives. It's not our responsibility to change people to our ways, but to live a life of acceptance. Today, be observant. Be aware of how comfortable or uncomfortable you are with people who are different from yourself. Remember there is a purpose in life for us all and it's up us to live a life of purpose.

We may not understand other cultures, but we can respect them...

What We Know To Be True

If you could pass on what you know to be true, what would that be? We have so many experiences in our life that it's difficult to remember all of them. But there are things that we tend to do repeatedly without thinking because they have always held true to us. Many times, they come from generations past. Remember a relative telling you to treat everyone equally because you never know if you'll be in their situation. Also to think before you talk. How many times have we regretted not doing this? Sometimes what we know to be true and living a life that is true can be challenging. Today, listen to your inner spirit. No excuses. Stand firm in what you believe and you will never be misguided.

Sometimes I wonder if we passed on the right things,
but laughter is one of the most important gifts to pass on.
So I guess we did all right...

Expect The Unexpected

When the best laid plans go out the window, it's time to go with the flow. Taking a deep breath and with a resolve to perservere, we can continue on our day with a positive attitude. Although it can be quite annoying, knowing that the universe sometimes has other plans for us helps just a little bit. At this time, it's not important to know the exact lesson we're supposed to be learning, just getting yourself to move on is the challenge. Today, you can handle whatever comes or doesn't come your way. Remember it's not the end result that is important, it's living life in the present moment that matters.

I can't imagine what her day is like...

Stopping to Breathe in Between

There are days when we are so busy that we only have a second to rest before starting up again. If we didn't have a check list, we wouldn't be able to remember everything that we have to do. So as you go through your list remember to breathe in between. We don't have many days like these, so we do what must be done and at the end of the day we put up our feet and relax. Today, pace yourself. Give yourself the time to do all that you need to do. There is a sense of accomplishment and fulfillment when all is done.

We all think we have alot to do, but I think she wins hands down...

It's Okay Not To Like Your Life Lessons

Although we know that our journey is full of lessons, it doesn't make it any easier for us to accept. Sometimes, our plans get messed up and it's difficult to understand why things like this happen. In hind sight, it becomes clearer but at the moment we feel pretty beaten up. We understand that these lessons are for our own good, but we really need a second to cry, be angry, and be sad. Life comes with not only understanding that there are lessons which we need to learn, but know that we can take the time to express how we feel as we go through these challenging times. Today, let yourself be truthful with your feelings. Knowing who you are and how you react to change is part of your journey too. Remember this to shall pass.

You are not alone...

Q: I wish I was there to give you a big hug.
You are strong, but it's okay to cry every once and awhile.
Know that there is love that always surrounds you.

Collecting Memories

For some of us, surrounding ourselves with momentos of the past comforts us. As time goes by, it becomes more and more difficult to recall the details of our past experiences. But when reminiscing over our photos and treasured knick knacks, we are quickly brought back to the exact moment in time that we took these pictures and were given these gifts. We experience the same feelings and emotions that we once had. Sometimes, they bring tears to our eyes, missing what we once had and at other times, they bring joy to our heart. Because our memories are no longer what they should be, collecting items that have meaning to us is very important. Today, celebrate each moment, for it will soon be a vague memory. Treasure your photos and personal items for they will remind you of your sparkling moments.

How can these bring me such sadness and joy at the same time...

Let Your Dreams Inspire You

Once and awhile in life, we are lucky enough to meet a dreamer. Someone who lives their life dreaming of how things could be if only...  When first meeting a dreamer, you may be captivated by their inspiring visions. Their dream becomes as real to you as it is for them. But as we attempt to help bring their dream to fruition, we find that there is an urgency only on our part. The dreamer's intent is to share the dream, no more, no less. There is purpose to our dreams, it gives us the opportunity to create the impossible. But not everyone is ready to step beyond the safe boundaries that surround their dreams. Today, listen intently to those who dream for it may spark inspiration in your own life. Remember even while we dream, we continue to journey on our path.

How wonderful would life be if we did turn turn our dreams into reality...

Accepting Others

Living a life of compassion is a lesson in itself. It's difficult to have compassion when your inital feelings are ones of frustration and anger. This especially applies when we repeatedly put our false expectations before what we know is to be true. Expecting another person to be something that they aren't, is setting ourselves up for disappointment. I guess it's a matter of accepting people for themselves, not expecting them to be who we want them to be. Living a life of compassion may be just being honest with ourselves and our feelings. Knowing that others are not our reflection, but their own. Today, look in the mirror and see what is reflected. Then think about your expectations of others. Are you accepting them for who they are? Everyone's journey is of importance, be at peace with not only yours but of others.

Can you imagine how crazy life would be if we had expectations for everyone...

No Plans For The Day

Sometimes our days are already planned for us and it's better to go with the flow. Accepting the unknown with open arms can be the most challenging, but think of all the new experiences that will come our way. Our journey can be filled with wonderful adventures if we let it. Today, let yourself be lead by the universe. No plans, no decisions, just breath and live the day in peace.

See the beauty that surrounds us when we least expect it...

Celebrating Every Moment

Some days we feel that time slips away more slowly than usual and we are anxious to move on. But then there are times when we wish it would stand still and we could savor the moment for just a little bit longer. We easily forget that we are the ones who decide how quickly or slowly time passes and that once gone it can never be retrieved. So make each moment count, don't waste it by regretting what could have been or worrying about what will be happen tomorrow. Enjoy the time you have today with the people who love and support you. Today, be in the present. Flow in time with the universe and you will never lose a moment of your life's journey.

Let the child within you play with no concerns about time...

Living A Busy Life

Sometimes we get so busy that it's difficult to remember the important things in life. We create "to do" lists, hoping that by putting our tasks down on paper, it ensures that everything will get done. But even then, it's easy to get caught up in the chaos. During a day of endless running around, our list seems to take precedence over how we treat people. It's easy to become irritable with others, when no one understands how much needs to be completed by the end of the day. Remember that lists can be put aside, unlike our family and friends. Today, be real in how much you can accomplish in the day. Life is precious, so take a moment to acknowledge and give thanks to the important people in your life who are there to love and support you. They will keep you sane in an insane world.
It takes time and patience
when creating something so beautiful...

Reacting To The Unexpected

Sometimes our best laid plans go astray when the unexpected occurs. There is no reason for us to get upset or throw our hands up in the air in frustration because we no longer have control of the situation. So let's  make the best of what has been brought to our door and move on with graciousness. Consider these interruptions as opportunities to strengthen our resolve in time of crisis. It's funny how the universe has to remind us every once and awhile, how vulnerable we truly are. Today, be open to the unexpected, for we never know what awaits us. Trust that your spirit guides you towards your heart's desire.
I thought I told them that I wanted Thai food,
that's okay I'll go with a burrito today...

Time To Rest

Although we try to put our best efforts towards our endeavors, sometimes life gets complicated and we need to allow ourselves to rest. When we lack the energy it takes to accomplish our tasks due to illness, the focus to reach our goals due to personal emergencies, and the drive to push ourselves to the next step, then it's time to slow down. The universe continues to flow gently around us, as we take this moment to heal. There is time for everything including knowing when to stop and take care of ourselves. Today, quiet your mind, body, and spirit. Opportunities will still be awaiting you, when you're fully rested and ready to continue on your journey.
Dont' think, just enjoy the beauty...
